1   Link   National Historic Ships - Core Collection
The National Register of Historic Vessels is a database of vessels which meet the necessary criteria for inclusion. Currently, vessels must be:

* of extraordinary maritime importance
* UK built and at least 50 years old
* over 12.19 metres (40 feet) in length (not including bowsprit)
* substantially intact and be based or operating in UK waters.

There are currently over 1,200 vessels listed in the database.

Within the NRHV there are two important sub-groups on the database: the Core Collection, with 61 vessels listed and Designated Vessels, with 152 vessels listed.

Core collection vessels are of pre-eminent national importance, and illustrate the broad achievement of UK maritime history, including changes in construction and technology. The 'City of Adelaide' is considered to be one of the 12 most important vessels in the Core Collection. 		871

3   Link   Submarine 'H.L. Hunley'
The American Civil War was raging at the time that the 'City of Adelaide' was being constructed, and on the night of 17 February 1864 the submarine 'H.L. Hunley' embarked on a dangerous mission that would forever mark its place in history. That night the eight-man crew launched a successful attack that sank the 'USS Housatonic' and the 'Hunley' became the first submarine in history to sink an enemy ship in combat. The 'Hunley' was sunk during the attack and the crew perished. The Hunley Commission was created by the State of South Carolina to acquire, recover, and preserve the H.L. Hunley submarine for public display. The 'Hunley' has been recovered and is undergoing conservation. 		334
4   Link   SS Admella
The wreck of the SS Admella in the early hours of August 6th 1859 was only the beginning of a horrific week for survivors who remained on board, in sight of land, while authorities struggled to rescue them from the stricken steamer. The loss of 89 lives, mostly due to cold and exposure, makes the wreck one of the worst maritime disasters in Australian history. 		376

The completion of STV One & All was the fulfillment of a dream for a dedicated group of South Australians who had been working for years to have a sail training ship operating from the State. One & All was built by W. G. Porter & Son Pty Ltd at North Haven, South Australia with assistance from a team of enthusiastic volunteers. 		366
