We are now at “make or break” time for the heritage clipper ship ‘City of Adelaide’.
On the 22nd October, the Scottish Maritime Museum issued a tender for the demolition of the ‘City of Adelaide’. In response we have submitted a formal offer to the Scottish Maritime Museum to relocate the 'City of Adelaide' to an interim storage location and at the same time take ownership of the heritage clipper. Our offer is based on removing the ‘City of Adelaide’ whole and thus saving her from being permanently lost to future generations.
We urgently seek your help to raise an additional A$200,000 to enable us to lower the price. This will improve our competitiveness against the cheaper chainsaw and bulldozer options.
At this time we would like to acknowledge the support of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (London) next year commemorating their 150th year 1860-2010, and Aztec Analysis (Adelaide) heavy lift engineers.
We do need more support. Would you please consider supporting our cause to save the City of Adelaide clipper through a financial contribution?
Should our tender be successful, we will then be undertaking a significant drive to raise the more than $2m to return the ‘City of Adelaide’ to our shores.
If we are not able to obtain sufficient contributions, the Scottish Maritime Museum will proceed with its plan to demolish the ‘City of Adelaide’ in the next few months. Should the ‘City of Adelaide’ be demolished we will distribute the funds raised to charities supporting heritage in the countries where the funds were raised.
We seek your urgent support to save the clipper ship ‘City of Adelaide’.

HOW WILL YOUR CHILDREN LEARN OF THEIR HERITAGE?
Will they read about it?
Or will they experience it?
