The South Australian Mechanical Branch of Engineers Australia presents Mark Gilbert, Wallbridge & Gilbert Consulting Engineers, specialising in the mechanical design and planning needed to lift and relocate large heavy objects. Mark will discuss a project to lift the historic "City of Adelaide" clipper ship from an abandoned slipway in Scotland and bring it to Port Adelaide.

Talk includes other short case studies to explain the mechanical design principles and design techniques used, and some lessons learnt when things went wrong.
